About The Lost Book Project
Founded in 2022, The Lost Book Project is an independent publishing house dedicated to finding, restoring and republishing important books that have been forgotten, neglected or allowed to fall out of print. Our catalogue spans literature, philosophy, theology, mythology, folklore, mysticism, occult history and other areas of cultural and intellectual significance.
Our mission is to make these works available again in editions that are carefully produced, readable and respectful of their original texts. Many significant books now survive only as ageing scans, damaged copies, inaccessible archive material or poorly reproduced reprints. We work to preserve the text, illustrations and character of these works while presenting them properly for modern readers.
Our long-term goal is to build a substantial and lasting library of remarkable books from the past, from established classics to works that have almost disappeared from public view. What We Are Building
The Lost Book Project is building a permanent library of important works that are at risk of being forgotten, overlooked or poorly preserved. Our aim is to create one of the most substantial independent collections of restored public domain books, spanning literature, philosophy, theology, mythology, occult history, folklore and other areas that sit outside the focus of most modern publishers.
We want these books to remain available in forms people will actually want to read, own and return to. That means continuing to expand the catalogue, improving the quality of our editions and bringing more difficult-to-find works back into circulation.
The long-term goal is simple: to preserve a body of knowledge, writing and cultural history that should not disappear simply because the original books became scarce, inaccessible or commercially unfashionable.
How We Bring Books Back
Every title begins with the source. We research historical editions, compare surviving texts and work from the strongest material available to reconstruct each book as faithfully as possible. Where the original work included illustrations, plates, diagrams or other important visual material, we preserve and restore those elements wherever practical.
From there, each edition is carefully reformatted for modern publication. Typography, spacing, page structure and cover design are rebuilt so the finished book feels deliberate and readable without losing the character of the original work. We avoid unnecessary alteration. The aim is to improve presentation, not rewrite history.
The result is an edition that respects where the book came from while making it practical to read, collect and keep today.

Our individual books are produced through print facilities in the UK, USA and Canada, with production generally routed according to destination and availability. Our physical box sets and presentation collections are produced in the UK.
Yes. Physical orders are shipped using tracked services. Once your order has been produced and dispatched, tracking information will be sent to the email address used at checkout.
We do more than simply reproduce old scans. Our editions are prepared for modern publication with careful typesetting, formatting and cover design, while preserving the original text and, where possible, important illustrations, plates and diagrams from historical editions.
